It's YOUR hell...YOU burn in it.

Wanted to share this with you all:

American Family Association is a right-wing bigot-fest with a radio program espousing, well, hate. Bryan Fischer is a bible-thumping twit on said show. He's had quite a lot to say about gays, fornicators, Muslims, Mormons, and...gays. Dude has a real problem with gays. Now he's dissing Mr. Hitchens post mortem, but with...

You've all heard me rant about them...those political figures who claim America was built on Christian principles, and their desire to "return" to what basically amounts to a theocracy.

You've also known me to rant about separation of church and state, especially where federal funding is concerned. My blog yesterday was in regards to the Supreme Court not picking up the appeal from the three ex-employees from World Vision.

So let's talk about the Supreme...

So I'm reading about the Supreme Court's decision to uphold the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruling regarding three employees who were fired by World Vision, not because they weren't Christians, but because (as determined by a corporate investigation) they did not believe that Jesus Christ is fully God and a member of the Trinity. "The employees were discharged because they no longer met an essential job prerequisite: that they genuinely affirm their belief in a statement of orthodox Christian...

In any other venue, somebody'd get the very least. But not in the airport. Because if TSA wants to grope your ta-tas, you better let them or you don't fly.

As if this isn't humiliating enough, recently a breast cancer survivor was forced to allow a TSA agent to check out her implants after going through the scanner. From the article:

"New York business consultant Lori Dorn said TSA agents refused to look at a medical card explaining her prosthetic...

So have I bitched about separation of church and state this week? No? Well, here ya go.

Lovely little town in Alabammy has implemented a program called ROC...Restore Our Community. Operation ROC gives those convicted of misdemeanors the choice between jail and/or fines OR a year of Sunday church services. And see, it's not a violation of your first amendment rights because you don't have to go to can go to jail instead.

Troy Davis

In the midst of thousands of people who have raised their voices and objections regarding the death penalty in general, and the execution of Troy Davis in particular, I feel the need to express my absolute disgust with this country in which I was born. We kill people with permission by authority, with impunity. And nobody raises an eyebrow. I was never pro-death penalty. That old testament "eye for an eye" routine is bullshit. If we truly ascribed to that mentality, how do we account for...

Birth control coverage a threat to religious freedom?

Okay. So the Catholic Church is up in arms because of new federal rule requiring Catholic ministries to offer birth control coverage to their employees. Under this new rule, employers will be required to offer employees insurance packages that include preventive health services with no co-pays, such as mammograms, colonoscopies, and children's immunizations....

Religious Persecution? I Don't Think So...

Shannon Hickman never saw a doctor while she was pregnant. She'd had a miscarriage three years prior, and fell two weeks before her son, David, was born...two months early. While her son's skin turned gray and he struggled to breathe, Shannon and her husband prayed and annointed the baby with oil.

The baby died nine hours after he was born. The Hickmans are being tried for second-degree manslaughter, for failing to get help for their son. The Hickman's attorneys are claiming they...

For pity's sake...enough is enough already. Now the tea party has decided that light rail trains are targets for terrorists.

"If anyone doesn't believe me—England and Spain. Now, if we have a more decentralized mass-transit system using buses, if the terrorists blow up a single bus, we can work around that. When they blow up a rail, that just brings the system to a grinding...

After the DADT repeal, Jesus still hates gays.

Posted 18-Sep-2011 at 04:01 AM (04:01) by Peregrinus

From the article:

"'We're Gay. Get Over it,' stated the cover page of the Marine Corps Times distributed to bases worldwide a week ahead of Tuesday's repeal.

The headline offended some but for many troops it echoed their sentiment that repeal is a non-issue for a military that operates by following orders and is busy at war. That sentiment is backed by Pentagon officials...

Washington - Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) at a Senate hearing he chaired today cited dramatic evidence linking poverty and shorter life spans. A new census report, meanwhile, said more Americans than ever before lived in poverty last year.

Sanders citied evidence that living in poverty greatly reduces access to health care and shortens life spans....

(This is a 90 page report, but an interesting read... and deja vu-ish)

"The Project for the New American Century was established in the spring of 1997. From its inception, the Project has been concerned with the decline in the strength of America’s defenses, and in the problems this would create for the exercise of American leadership around the globe and, ultimately, for the preservation

Another prophetic quote?

Posted 12-Sep-2011 at 06:26 AM (06:26) by Peregrinus

We watched another oldie tonight, The Long Kiss Goodnight". The premise of the movie is a suburban mom suffering from amnesia slowly remembers (with the help of a private investigator) she's a spy/assassin for the U.S. at the end of the cold war. She comes to just in time to foil "Project Honeymoon"...basically, plant a bomb on a tanker, drive it into town and boom. Plant a dead terrorist too.

Why We Can't Afford EPA Regulations...

Posted 02-Sep-2011 at 06:20 PM (18:20) by Peregrinus

Because it cuts into the profit margin! Come ON people! Why do you think so many American companies have moved their factories to other countries? No taxes, easily exploitable labor force, and NO EPA regulation!

Invade, exploit, destroy. It's what we do. That's the American way, baby! I mean, that's the basis of our existence on this continent as Americans, isn't it? We land, commit genocide on the Natives (the ones we didn't use for slave labor, that is) and irresponsibly deplete/destroy...
