Recently several people I have known passed away. Some were old and others not so old, just afflicted with illness that could not be treated. Those left living repeat many of the same laments about losing a loved one, and many of them were not present for the last act of the one they miss now. The cultural social fabric I have been brought up in, here in America, does not teach or prepare us to accept death or to be very able to handle it in others. And seeing if the coast is clear. It appears to be. We had some serious weather around here lately, all is well at our wigwam but many people nearby didn't do well at all.
Peregrinus got stranded at her work site this morning by snow, and is working a second shift without sleep. These kind of events require us to shelter in place with the individuals we care for and thats what she's doing. I wish I could take her coffee and a smoke!

Traditional American Holiday......Thanksgiving. I grew up in a large blood related family, that celebrated the Holidays together. Both my maternal and paternal families participated together by sharing the burden of hosting the various Big Holidays each year. I interpreted the Thanksgiving feast to mean we are happy to be eating and sharing food together, and able to transcend the distances between us each year to do so. Sharing food seemed like a big deal in that we ate better at Holiday feasts...

The occupy Wall Street movement has come to our little neck of the woods in Kentucky, giving Peregrinus and I a chance to show solidarity by participating. We had two meet-ups in our city park this week, to attract attention and participants and to coordinate support for the event planned to kick off this Friday. Most of the supporters are young folk interested in seeing less corporate money influencing politics, less corporate tax exemption and less GMO foods. Many other complaints were also aired...

Yesterday was the last day the State Department accepted testimony, petitions and the research gathered on the further development of the U.S. portion (1700 miles) of Trans Canada and XL Pipeline. November is when we'll see the outcome.
