I am not that scientifically literate. Is a very hot liquid the same as plasma. Or plasma is more like a gaseous state?

Plasma is kind of wierd. It at times acts like a gas, the main difference is that the particles in Plasma are unbound, but not free. They also tend to be charged as well. A real world example of Plasma... Fire actually.. Most flames are technically plasma. St. Elmos Fire, Northern Lights.
