Default Hello, fellow heathens

Having enjoyed a longer than expected and rather full life, it would bore you to tears were I to try and summarize all the events that have contributed to my current state.

The salient facts are these: from the age of 15 until I turned 19 I was a Pentecostal youth pastor at a small beach church in San Diego. At 20 I converted to Roman Catholicism and was preparing to enter the seminary when I started reading and contemplating Thomas Merton, which led to reading and contemplating Alan Watts, which led to a total disillusionment with religion and by 24 I was an avowed atheist. I refer to my current position on theism as agnostic atheism and my belief system as secular humanism.

I've been blogging on atheism since 2003. I also enjoy gardening, technology (I've worked on two computer help desks...never again) and spending time with the love of my life, a 5 year old Cocker Spaniel named Cleo.

Ah, a man after my own heart as the saying goes. Dogs are the love of my life also. One now called Jackson, a Plott Hound. A true nutso. And I do some gardening as well as reading when my own aged bod wants rest. Welcome to the Hub, Jack.

Hey Carl, -------------Welcome! You may also want to take a look at the Heathen Hangout, the sister board to the Hub----------------

http://www.heathen-hangout.com/forum1/

Shadowfox, myself, and a few others from here hang out there. Same management crew. Unlike the Hub, it is restricted to non-theists only.
