Quick story: modern penguins are only small in regard to their ancestors.

So, a friend of mine who is in the US Navy got sent down to Antarctica with some scientists to help them tag penguins (not sure what sort). Anyway, his job was to go grab a penguin and bring it to the scientists so they could tag it. He and his friends got in a competition to see who could grab the largest one. He, being kind of a dumbass, immediately went for the largest penguin in sight. As soon as he got close to it, the penguin swung its wing up and hit him in the head, knocking him out cold. His buddies went about collecting penguins and left him laying on the ice. About five minutes later he came to, not remembering anything that happened, and tried to pick up the same penguin again. This time his friends were kind enough to stop him before he got close enough to get knocked out cold again.

Still though, 1.5 meters is a giant fucking penguin.
