Default A Walk to the Park

Today for the first time in a long time I took my dog, Jackson, and walked down to the park. It's a long way for me but does have a table for a rest stop half way there and the gazebo to rest in at the park itself.

On the way back, a prairie falcon landed just off the walkway about 50 feet ahead of me. I stopped to watch. He surveyed the ground just where he'd landed, then sauntered onto the walkway, across it, and onto the other side nearer the creek. He just walked along on those long legs while carefully surveying the ground.

Eventually he spread those broad wings and took off. The flash of color on the wings was such a beautiful sight. I felt honored in a way to have been so close while this magnificent raptor took care of hunting business.

And Jackson sat quite well behaved all this time!
