Default Trying to believe in angels

Years ago, a friend saw two angels next to him,
when he suffered a serious accident at work,
where he almost died from poisonous fumes.
He told me they were real angels.
And he swears he saw them!
He is not a Christian.
We are both of the same "religious persuasion".
Do you have any data on angels?

Atheistically I believe they are rouge hormonal influences. Theistically I believe their assholes from the Abrahamic religions pass down from Sumerian mythology. Of course most religions are mystical plagiarism from surrounding cultures edited and modified to serve current culture but that just my opinion. I find some angels fun such as Raziel for example. Then then there the matter of the Elohim, which grammatically to some is plural, if that context a singular "God" didn't mold yes I'm using mold instead of create, the heaven's and earth, the Elohim did. This in my opinion referring to the seven Archons in Gnosticism. Which is my favorite depiction of angels in a theistically since, raping the equivalent to "Eve". So yeah, my view on angels. No... Just no...except a few.

All I want to know is how you're going to blame this one on endangered species.

No.
I can assume [be certain of] that angels also appear to atheists.
Would this be a horrendous disgrace, if one appeared to you?
He would certainly explain:
"Hey, Administrator! I am a genuine angel, but I will not interfere in your atheism, got it? Have a sunny afternoon!"
There!

What do you want to know about angels, form a historical as in development of their stories, physical descriptions, cross cultural references, etc., or a mythological since like classification?

Really, I would only be interested if the angel was female.

I might venture a theological interrogation or two otherwise, but I'm pretty much live-and-let-live.

BTW, are you aware the existence of angels does not imply that God or gods must exist? I believe that point was discussed IIRC in the SF story Angel Fix, by Racoona Sheldon (better known as James Tiptree Jr., real name Alice Bradley Sheldon). Which leads, if you will, to the question of Christian Atheist Theology, and the theory that to be a True Atheist you must be a Christian first (and that then all True Christians are atheists). It's not a theory I agree with, but hey. As theology, it's definitely controversial and odd fun.

Availability, gender, any interfering neuroses.

Can you apply for one that does garden work?

this thread reminded me of the late George Carlin's take on it all

Love the Carlin stuff! He just says the right things at the right times

Here's a quote from: http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/431517

Stress-induced arousal from sources such as life-threatening accidents or natural disasters, sustained military operations, terrorist attacks, or recent bereavement has been reported to trigger hallucinations.

Not as funny as Carlin though...

Unless I have some specific reason to be working with angels I don't believe in them, djewleu. When I do believe in them, I believe they are a spiritual force much like I view any spirit.

I heard a preacher insisting all angels are male.
No, seriously, is it true?
If it's true, then, no; leave it, I give up the idea.
Don't even bother to appear in daylight; no, thanks.

Paolo Nutini mentions 'where bright light and angels meet'

Which I think is here..

I would like to find a real angel from outer space, to be honest.
I don't think I'm asking for that much.
But with clear credentials; not one disguised in some strange apparel, with wings or whatever.
Not one from YouTube!
Please.
ASAP.

What would be the relationship between the two creatures, really!...
I mean, between angels and zombies?
Or ambies and zongels?

Do we really want to go down that road?

Or perhaps we can leave it to the experts on matters demonic, 333 and Makbawehuh?

No. Better leave it here.
But if the experts wish to enlighten us, fine.
I'm still trying to believe in angels.
As for zombies, no.
I already believe in them.
Saw two the other day walking in my direction.
Man! I got such a fright!!
Was 58 past 11 PM, dark night!
And the screeching!
Simply horrible!
Couldn't sleep for a while; had to go finish a puzzle.

I think he and I have had our say on the subject, unless he's got something more to say.

He doesn't like them, I don't believe in them unless I need them for something. :P

I don't believe in angels as beings.

But some people can certainly be angels in a crisis or when we are in need.
