I find this very interesting indeed, thanks, 333! My physics is not good, but surely a bubble can be formed by an expanding or standing wave,or IOW just because it's a bubble does not make it not a wave. I will have to read up more to see what he claims is the difference.

From one of the Cymatics links:
Quote:
Cymatic symbols may have been imbedded inside a chapel in Scotland in order to “encode” music secretly in the carved stone cubes lining the ceiling of the chapel.
Taking ir all a bit too far, eh? The poor Rosslyn chapel gets lumbered with everything.

Now, looking at the patterns acheived and shown on that link, I am struck at the thought that they really have not acheived anything over and beyond what one can acheive with a loudspeaker and some grit; the Amateur Scientist column in Scientific American decades ago carried instructions for how to photograph similar patterns from sound. The most I have yet seen new from Cymatics is that 3-D pic on their home page, but I shall keep on reading. However, this does reinforce my suspicion that the quoted Cymatics researcher may have his physics wrong if claiming sound is not a wave but instead a non-wave bubble.
