Default Discusion: The New Atheism by Victor J. Stenger.

So I bought Stengers new book yesterday and I am 95 pages in. (my gf who is co readin g the book with me is not yet as far ) Albeit many parts of the book brought out the desire to discuss topis raised the chapter I am currently on needs to be discussed. I'll start out with a quick synopsis and review of the book thus far.
Firstly, The book is called The New Atheism, a suiting name. The books main focus thus far seem to be in explaining the movment that has been termed 'new atheism'. The first chapter titled Atheism of the offense, coverse the major contributors to the ' new atheist' movment. Dawkins, hitchens, harris, Dennet, and Stengers own contributions to the movment are discussed. Tentativly the differene in new and old atheism is also explained, as well as given a birth year(s) and main cause.

The second chapter covers some of the dangers of faith, but more importantly attacks the base concept the to have faith is to be moral. The danger of blind faith is demonstraighted strongly and in my opinion rather politely (compared to others who have done the same)

Chapter three goes onto explain how and why science and emperical validity work and why science is not based on faith. In short science validates its self. The chapter goes onto talk about the battle between faith and science.

Now, heres where I wish to begin my discussion. Currently We are talking about the finetuned universe. Victor use 5 main perameters and tries to explain them.
Quicly he offers a great oneliner. Instead of the universe being fine tuned for life, life is fine tunned to the universe. =D

1. The ratio of electrons to protons. If their were more electrons thehn their are the eltro magnetic force would override gravity. Why is the ration as it is? Because the universe is electricaly nutral, thus causing the universe to balance its self out.

2. Ratio of electromagnetic force to gravity. The reason why the ratio is as it is, is because one os dealing with tinny things in massive quanities, while the other massive things, with relativitly smaller ammounts.

Ok I kinda need to go back to reading now. =D

While Dawkins is my favorit writter for evolutionary biology, Stenger is my favorit for atheism, his book God A Failed Hypothosis, was beyond amazing.
