The French Senate has almost unanimously voted in a law to ban full face coverings---including French Muslim women-----------

I'm from Michigan, and it's long been illegal there to walk around in public with a mask on, for reasons of public safety, including the prevention of masked robberies. Then we had the celebrated case here in Florida of the Muslim woman who applied to get a driver's license, and insisted on having the photo taken with her face covered. She lost that one as far as I know.

All the French Assembly and French Senate need to do is ban all sorts of facial masks in the name of public safety. Problem solved, crisis averted.

Thanks for the response. I haven't seen any more about it since I posted the OP. So maybe the whole thing is moot now.

Or I am just more interested in Europe than most of the people on this forum.

There is a lot to say on the topic; OTOH, I did 3 blog posts just today, and 3 more in the works, and a whole lot of other work. Once I get some free time, I shall return to this thread and say a fair bit on the topic. But I need to look up some references first.

I simply love the French word for separation of secular government and religious affairs: laïcité.
