To start with, it's HOT, with loads of UV index 12 sunshine and thankfully less humidity than yesterday. Before Gurdur mentioned it http://heathen-hub.com/blog.php?b=1220 I had no idea it was a holiday today. Since it's a holiday and after 9pm in Germany "bugger doing anything more for the day" is fair and equitable, however Gurdur, you might go to a public establishment where dirndl wear is appreciated, wink wink, nudge nudge, know what I mean. lol For my part, I will contribute to social media with my inane take on the goings on here in our 'bottom' (thats the floor of our little valley where farming occurs), please do not connotate buggering and bottom in the same thought, though it is a good day to bugger off in the bottom. Rain, we had lots of it this year. I am told by trusted folks from Oregon to Colorado and around here that it has caused a later than normal growing season to happen, which means less to harvest overall across the board. With farm land along major river deltas flooding now, and farmers being unable to even plant crops there will no doubt be a spike in the cost of food at some point. Our very own farmer Ray has sold 3/4 of his calves (45 or so) and several cows to avoid having to buy food for them this coming winter, he got a high price for them at $1.49 the pound. He and most all other independent farmers in the bottoms aren't going to be able to grow enough fodder this year to feed stock and certainly won't have extra to sell which is how they make money. That goes far in explaining mud rails to you. Mud rails are dune buggies that local bubba's (they call each other that) build from left over car parts and engines that happen to be laying around the yard taking up space. they seldom have mufflers and you can tell that from miles away when one is revved up. They are not street legal (doesn't stop anybody from driving them on the street though) and so they must find a field with mud in it to really cut loose and have any fun with them. Back to bottoms, where food is generally grown, and rain, which we had alot of. The field in my next door neighbors yard (thats about 300 meters away from my house luckily) became a mud rail race track, oh joy, and since there are less cows to chase now as well, they must chase each other and stray dogs that wander into the field. Which brings us to Owls, also mentioned and pictured in Gurdurs announcement of a social media day holiday. We have a loud owl just up slope from our bottom, and it has taken to hooting loudly from about 1am to 5am, which has given Libby our mini-pin absolute fits. So she accompanies the hooting with her incessant barking, which gets all the dogs in the bottom to bark as well. I'm sewing a muzzle for her right after I finish my inanity here. Did I mention it being hot? It is. Ah, I forgot to mention the Federal Government. The Fed. is buying up flooded farmland left and right, and blowing up levees to create even more flooded farmland to buy, cheap. Wonder what they will do with it. Maybe lease it to other nations that we owe scads of money to in order to offset this freaking huge debt of ours? Well thats another story entirely. So, bugger the day, bugger the night but be sure to tip your barmaids and bar tenders, after all, alcohol has made buggering more available to the masses than good looks and charm ever did.

Today is Canada day, so it -is- a holiday, just not for us.
If you look hard enough, I'm sure almost every day is a holiday. :P Also, I say we just blow up the Fed. Okay, no, not really, but it's a good dream... "If I were president". ha!
